Siteimprove’s Search Engine Visibility is calculated using several data points including:
- Keyword positions
- Search volume of monitored keywords
- Estimated traffic for keywords
In order to have high Search Engine Visibility, you'll need high ranking keywords with a high search volume and high estimated traffic.
Likewise, low ranking keywords with low search volume results in low Search Engine Visibility.
If your search volume is high, but your keywords have poor ranking positions, then you will have low search engine visibility.
Why do I see fluctuations in Search Engine Visibility?
Fluctuations in Search Engine Visibility will occur when keywords are added to an Activity Plan because average rankings are adjusted. Fluctuations will also occur when overall rankings of increase/decrease.
There is no threshold for Visibility. The higher the number, the better. An upward trend is positive.
How can I use Search Engine Visibility?
Visibility can be used to compare your performance against your competitors. For example, if your competitor’s search engine visibility is 300, and yours is only 100, then your competitor is doing better. Based on this, you can research why the competitor is doing better by analyzing their ranking positions and ranking pages.
