Summary

A screenshot may not be taken for a specific page in Behavior Map due to issues such as incorrect URLs, lack of user interaction, access restrictions, cookie settings, or slow page rendering.

Problem

A screenshot is not being generated for a specific page in Behavior Map.

Causes

Misspelled page URL

You have misspelled the page URL. Always double-check your page URL by comparing it to the live version.

Broken page URL

The page's URL is broken.

No interactions recorded on the page

No interaction (visits, clicks etc.) have been logged on the specific page since it was added to the Behavior Map. When a visit/interaction takes place, a screenshot will be generated to collect data on that specific page.

Page is behind a login

The URL you have entered is behind a login (intranet, etc.). Siteimprove's screenshot crawlers cannot crawl pages behind a login.

Cookie banner blocking interactions

A cookie banner on the page may be blocking interactions. This is highly based on the setup of your cookie banner.

Users declining cookies

Your user does not allow/declines cookies, therefore no interactions will be logged and no screenshot will be taken. This only happens if all of your users decline cookies.

Slow JavaScript loading

Your JavaScript loads very slowly on a page. Slow JavaScript could cause our screenshot crawler to not being able to render a screenshot of your page due to slow loading time.

Resolution / Explanation

These behaviors are expected when the conditions above prevent the screenshot crawler from accessing, rendering, or detecting interactions on the page.
