Why is my dashboard widget not showing any data?

Modified on: Mon, 3 Jul, 2023 at 8:53 AM

In some cases, you may notice a widget on the dashboard without any data.

This will happen if the site or page group selected is not configured for the module covered by the widget.

Examples of widgets showing no data

For example, if the Content Suite is used to check site A, but Analytics is not running on the site then the Analytics widget will not show any data when site A is selected.Screenshot showing that no data is available, with the text 'Score No Data No Access' followed by 'No data available. Please choose another site/group'.

In a similar way, if Analytics is running on site B but the Content Suite is not then Content Suite related widgets such as Digital Certainty Index, Quality Assurance, Accessibility, Policy, and SEO, will not show any data when site B is selected.

Empty Content Suite widgets will also be presented if you select a group configured in Analytics but not for the Content Suite.

These situations often occur when the Analytics data for a site is combined, but the Content Suite checks subsites individually.

For example, you may have the Analytics Suite running on the domain

http://site.com

with traffic for all subdomains

http://subdomain1.site.com, http://subdomain2.site.com, etc.

combined and tracked together as one analytics website, at the same time the sites can be checked individually in the Content Suite.

SiteContent SuiteAnalytics Suite
http ://site.com (including subdomains) Yes
http ://site.com (excluding subdomains)Yes
http ://subdomain1.site.comYes
http ://subdomain2.site.comYes

Note: Account specific dashboard widgets that are imported via a dashboard template will be empty when imported. These can be re-configured for the new account using the edit option in the top-right corner of the widget. Find out more about this in the article "What does it mean to share a dashboard template?"

What should I do?

Siteimprove uses icons to symbolize the Analytics and Content Suite as shown below. These icons can be seen on the site, in group drop-down menus, and in other areas throughout the Siteimprove Intelligence Platform (SIP).

If you encounter an empty widget then, as the first course of action, use the dropdowns and select a site or group that is covered by the widget you are viewing.

Sites that are configured for both the Analytics and Content Suite will have both icons. If you have a site that should be configured for both, but is not, then please contact Siteimprove Technical Support.
