Deprecation of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 support for Siteimprove Analytics script delivery and data collection

Modified on: Thu, 7 Oct, 2021 at 9:42 AM

Like many other web-based tools, Siteimprove Analytics uses TLS (Transport Layer Security) to ensure that any communication with Siteimprove is encrypted, authenticated, and reliably unaltered.

When Siteimprove collects visitor information from visitors to a website containing the Siteimprove Analytics script, requests are sent to servers in our infrastructure.

From October 14th, 2021, Siteimprove will no longer support the use of TLS 1.0 and 1.1 for these requests. This means that moving forward we will only collect data using TLS 1.2 or greater.

Will this affect my data collection?

It is unlikely to affect the data collection. Currently, less than 0.1 percent of the data we collect across all Siteimprove customers are sent using TLS 1.0 or 1.1. Most modern browsers are no longer supporting TLS 1.0 and 1.1 which means that the data collection that risks being affected will be from visitors on old devices using old browsers that do not support TLS 1.2 or better (TLS 1.2 was released in 2008).

Do I need to do anything?

No. This is solely an informational message, and no actions need to be taken at your end.
