New Siteimprove Analytics database: FAQ

Siteimprove is moving to a faster and more efficient database. Selected customers will be given early access to the new database from April 2022. This article answers some typical questions regarding access to the new database.

What is the new database?

We are building a faster, more efficient Analytics database. The new database is a cloud-based secure database. We consider this enhancement a further strengthening of Siteimprove’s security stance. Learn more in the article “Information on new Siteimprove Analytics database: Data and security”.

How do I know if my account has early access to the new Analytics Database?

If your account has early access, you will be informed by a message within the platform. You will also see that migrated Analytics components show a lightning icon (A picture containing text, clipart

Description automatically generated) as well as the possibility to switch between the databases.

What is the advantage of moving to the new database?

The new database primarily improves load times. This means your tables will load faster and we can process higher amounts of data giving an overall better user experience. This database solution helps ensure the scalability, availability, and reliability of Siteimprove Analytics.

How will early access to the new database be seen within the platform?

We’re still developing the database, which means it’s currently only available on selected components within the platform. Look out for the lightning icon (A picture containing text, clipart

Description automatically generated) on tables and widgets which show where you can view data from the new database. Other than the icon, everything in Analytics will look the same. All other features will work as normal showing data from the current database.

Who in my organization can use the new database? 

Once you have been given early access, all users can view data from the new database on the migrated features. Users will be able to switch between using the data from either the current or new Analytics database.

Will my data be safe in the new database?

Yes, the security of your data is our highest priority. Your data is encrypted at all stages and protected in accordance with legislative requirements and industry best practices. Can I switch back to the old database? 

Once your account has been selected for early access, you can view data from either the current database or the new current database for the applicable widgets. Switching between databases will apply to all widgets but will only affect the individual user using the platform. 

Which features are available on the new database?

You can a list of the features with the possibility to show data from the new database and the status of the remaining feature in the article, “What features are currently available on the new Analytics database?

Will a move to the new database affect scheduled dashboard reports that were configured using the current database? 

No, your scheduled report will continue to run as normal.
