Link Checker Update

Modified on: Tue, 16 Jul, 2024 at 9:03 PM

What’s changing

We’re modernizing our link checker, which scans for broken links. This modernization will increase the efficiency and scalability of our link checking capabilities.

What does this mean?

The improved architecture of the new link checker will allow us to handle more customer sites simultaneously. It adopts a more restrained approach when checking links on domains, reducing the likelihood of false positives over time. While the transition to the new link checker may not yield immediate changes, its enhanced capabilities promise improved accuracy and efficiency.
If your website or intermediary actors such as CDNs have blocked the Siteimprove link checker in the past, then you may notice behavior reducing over time. Your DCI score might be positively impacted over time as a result of this.

When is this happening?

The migration to the new link checker will be rolled out in a phased approach in the second half of 2024.

Customers will receive further communication one month ahead of their scheduled migration date.

An annotation in the graphs within Quality Assurance, Accessibility, SEO, and Policy will be added once the migration has happened. This annotation will indicate the specific migration date of the site.
