Apr. 10, 2025: Updating the Chrome version in our render service

Modified on: Thu, 10 Apr, 2025 at 4:24 PM

Why do we update the browser version in the render service?

We periodically update the browser version used in our render service to ensure compatibility with modern web standards and improve the accuracy of our data capture. The current browser version is becoming outdated and might no longer be supported by some websites, which affects our ability to capture certain elements, such as video components. By updating to the latest stable version, we can ensure that our rendering service remains effective and up-to-date.

What impact can you expect on your crawl results?

Data capture

With the updated browser version, you can expect to find more content on the websites we crawl, if they are otherwise restricted for older browser versions.

Impact can include, but might not be limited to:

  • An increased number of links found
  • Additional content found
  • Increased time spent on checking the additional content and links

While we anticipate that most crawls will benefit from the updated browser version used in our rendering service, the exact changes in data capture are unpredictable. The expectation is that the update will lead to more accurate and comprehensive results.

Page reports

Page reports are generated based on the captured data. With the updated browser version, you might notice changes in how some page reports look. These changes are expected to reflect the improved data accuracy and should result in better page reports.
