Why Is Traffic Data Not Showing in Siteimprove

Modified on: Wed, 24 Jun, 2026 at 3:49 PM

Summary

If you can’t see Traffic data after connecting a data provider, the most common causes are missing mappings, URL mismatches, revoked access, inactive credentials, or missing analytics scripts—each requiring a specific configuration fix.

Overview

Traffic data in Siteimprove helps prioritize issues by showing analytics data across modules. If no data appears after connecting a provider, it is typically due to configuration, access, or tracking issues that prevent data from syncing correctly.

Symptoms

  • No Traffic data visible in Siteimprove
  • Recently connected analytics provider shows no results
  • Expected page-level traffic insights are missing

Causes and Resolutions

Mapping to your data provider has not been configured

Once you have connected to your analytics account as outlined above, you can map your sites to your analytics provider.

Resolution:

  1. Go to Settings > Content > Traffic data provider.
  2. Click on the Mappings tab.
  3. Click on Edit provider. Mapping_tab_in_Priority_data_providers
  4. Select the provider (e.g. Adobe Analytics) from the drop-down in the modal presented.Edit site data provider option
  5. Click Save.
  6. Select the relevant Account details to map the site.
  7. Click Save to finalize the mapping.

The account was mapped but the site index URLs are different

When mapping data from two different data sources, URLs are not mapped automatically if they are not completely identical to each other. Even the slightest variation in the URL, (e.g., “http” vs “https”, or “www” vs “no www”) will be seen as different URLs and will not be automatically connected between the data provider and the URLs found by the Siteimprove crawler.

Resolution:

If you suspect URLs from your data provider are not identical to the URLs found by the Siteimprove crawler, please inform Siteimprove Support about this. Including any knowledge of URL variations you might have will enable us to configure URL mapping between the two data sources.

The connection has been revoked

You can check the status of the connection at Settings > Content > Traffic Data Providers.

If the status says Revoked, this usually means the user or the private key uploaded for the connection no longer has access to the Analytics provider data.

Resolution:

An administrator (i.e., In Google or Adobe) may have revoked access to third-party apps connected to an account within the analytics provider’s privacy settings. In this case, we suggest you contact your Analytics provider administrator to investigate.

The connection email has been deactivated

Check if the email that was used to establish the connection to the analytics provider has been deactivated.

If an individual's email address was used, make sure that the email address still has the same account privileges and access to the analytics provider’s data.

Resolution:

Ensure the email account used for the connection is active and retains appropriate permissions within the analytics provider.

There is no analytics script on the site

Ensure that the applicable analytics code is on the site for whatever Analytics provider you are using (e.g. Siteimprove, Adobe, or Google). For further information on adding the Siteimprove Analytics code see:

Resolution:

Verify that the analytics tracking script is properly implemented on your website and is collecting data.
