Note: This feature was released on February 6th, 2025

The Accessibility Code Checker is built upon our Siteimprove Accessibility engine. It's used in our Accessibility product, browser extension, and CMS plugins to ensure reliable and consistent accessibility results while building your code.

The Siteimprove Accessibility Code Checker is designed to enhance our existing suite of tools by allowing teams to test their web pages for accessibility issues directly within their development environments.

The Accessibility Code Checker will be an addition to other shift-left capabilities offered by Siteimprove, including:

  • Prepublish Capabilities: To test your content within the DXP before it goes live (link)
  • Browser Extensions: To test individual web pages directly in your browser (link)

New: Accessibility Code Checker

With the introduction of the Accessibility Code Checker, Siteimprove now provides a seamless integration with existing test frameworks including Selenium, Playwright, Puppeteer, and Cypress, commonly used by web developers.

Key benefits:

  1. Immediate Insights: Developers can receive instant feedback on accessibility issues, allowing them to take immediate action
  2. Cost Efficiency: Early detection of issues reduces the need for extensive post-deployment fixes, saving time and resources
  3. Faster Fixes: By integrating into the development environment, the developer gets access to the Page Report with issue guidance and AI suggestions

Improved workflow, enhanced accessibility:

The Accessibility Code Checker is designed to improve workflow efficiency and ensure that web pages are accessible and compliant from the first stages of their development.

  • Local terminal output: You can detect the number of accessibility issues on webpages before deployment
  • CI/CD gatekeeping: You can block inaccessible code from being deployed to your live website
  • Page Report: You can pinpoint the accessibility issues on the page, making it easy to know what to fix
  • Share Page Report: You can easily share the link to the Page Report insights with your coworkers
  • Code Examples: You can view individual code examples showing how to fix the accessibility issues
  • AI Remediate: You can generate AI-suggested code fixes that will resolve your accessibility issues
