Siteimprove's release notes for June 2025

This page offers an introduction to the product updates and new capabilities we released to the Siteimprove platform in June. Designed to enhance your experience and help you achieve more with ease and efficiency. The May release includes:

  1. New accessibility metric: Average site target score
  2. New Design Kit in the Siteimprove Accessibility Checker
  3. Updates to the Siteimprove’s browser extension for Google Chrome
  4. Design improvements to the Siteimprove CMS Plugin launch button

1. New accessibility metric: Average site target score

We’re excited to introduce a new metric to the “My Sites” page in the Accessibility module. The new “Average site target score” gives you a quick, high-level view of how your organization is progressing toward its accessibility goals across all sites with a defined target.

With this release, teams gain a centralized view that reflects how closely their portfolio aligns with defined accessibility standards.

The Average site target score lets you:

  • Instantly see how your sites are performing against their accessibility targets
  • Communicate accessibility progress at a broader, cross-site level
  • Focus improvement efforts where they’ll have the most collective impact

How it works:

  • If at least one site has a defined accessibility target, the Average site target score will appear in the “Accessibility status across your sites” section
  • If no sites have targets defined, this metric is hidden to maintain a clean and relevant interface

This feature is available to all users with access to the Accessibility module. No additional setup is required. Head to Accessibility > My Sites to explore the new metric.

2. New Design Kit in the Siteimprove Accessibility Checker

We’re excited to announce a brand-new Design Kit in the Siteimprove Accessibility Checker browser extension, built specifically to help designers identify and fix accessibility issues by serving detailed explanations and tips.

Navigate to the new Design Kit tab to quickly access a set of design tools and designer-focused suggestions after running an accessibility scan on any web page. A new space to understand how visual design decisions impact accessibility.

Designers can now proactively understand and fix accessibility problems earlier in the process, saving time and reducing costly rework downstream.

3. Updates to the Siteimprove’s browser extension for Google Chrome

The Chrome version of the Siteimprove Content Assistant browser extension now lets users view content insights directly on public websites. This includes DCI Score functionality as well as accessibility, quality, policy, and SEO insights.

These features will roll out to other browsers soon. This update replaces the legacy Siteimprove browser extension that previously supported DCI checks on public websites.

Visit the Google Chrome webstore to find Siteimprove’s Content Assistant browser extension and learn more in our Help Center: What is the Siteimprove Browser Extension? (Opens in a new tab).

4. Design improvements to the Siteimprove CMS Plugin launch button

The Siteimprove button that opens the plugin in your CMS editing environment (“Smallbox”) has been restyled to match Siteimprove's visual design style. This update refreshes its appearance with a more modern, consistent look across supported content management system (CMS) platforms, while improving accessibility as well.

These changes apply automatically to all CMS plugins using the latest version of the software development kits (SDK).
