Product updates and new capabilities released to the Siteimprove platform in September. Designed to enhance your experience and help you achieve more with ease and efficiency.

The September release includes:

  1. New: Guided setup and a Configurational Assistant for Analytics
  2. Update: PDF Remediation Agent now generates alternative text for images
  3. Siteimprove CMS Remediation Agent
  4. Siteimprove CMS Plugin for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  5. Siteimprove CMS Plugin for Optimizely
  6. Siteimprove CMS Plugin for WordPress (v2.1.4)

1. New: Guided setup and a Configurational Assistant for Analytics

Setting up Key Metrics, Funnels, and Segments no longer requires knowing exactly how Siteimprove models them.

Two new ways to configure

Guided wizard:

On the setup page for a Key Metric, Funnel, or Segment, you can now choose a guided wizard instead of the standard form. It walks you through one step at a time, shows a running summary as you go, and ends with a plain-language description of what you've built before you save. The existing setup page is unchanged and still available.

Configurational Assistant:

Under the Analytics menu, describe what you want to measure in your own words — "where do people drop off before completing an application?" — and the Assistant suggests the right configuration type and a starting configuration. Send it into the guided wizard pre-filled, then edit anything you like.

Availability

Available now for all Analytics customers at no additional cost, with no setup required. You'll only see the configuration types your account already has access to.

Tip: The more specific your description, the better the suggestion. Generating one can take up to a minute.

2. Update: PDF Remediation Agent now generates alternative text for images

The PDF Remediation Agent now generates alternative text for inaccessible images. It reads the image together with the content of the PDF around it, so the description reflects the document rather than what the image looks like in isolation. Every inaccessible image in the file comes back with a suggested alternative text in the Review section of the PDF Report, where you can change the alt text before download.

How it works

  1. In PDF Audit or PDF Validate, select the PDFs you want to remediate. AI-generated alt text is on by default but can be turned off from the Remediation menu.
  2. Remediation runs in the background.
  3. When the button changes to Preview, open the PDF Report to see every alternative text in the Review section.
  4. Edit the text if needed, or change the image from informative to decorative and back.
  5. Select download. The alternative text is written into the PDF.

Your file and its suggestions are kept for 30 days, so you can review a long document in stages and come back to it.

AI-generated alt text consumes 1 AI Remediate limit per PDF that contains inaccessible images, on top of the PDF Remediation limit the run already costs. You are not charged per page or per image.

Availability

Available to customers with the PDF Remediation Agent add-on and available AI Remediate limits. Your user role needs the PDF Remediation permission. Custom roles are not updated automatically, so an account owner or administrator may need to add it.

3. Siteimprove CMS Remediation Agent

We have introduced a CMS Remediation Agent for WordPress and Drupal sites, letting editors analyze and fix accessibility issues directly from Page Report without leaving the CMS.

What's new:

  • Analyze in CMS: The agent locates exactly where an issue lives in your CMS, so you can jump straight to it instead of hunting through templates and content.
  • Fix in CMS: Apply the suggested fix directly in the CMS, without switching tools.
  • Human-in-the-loop approval: Every fix is presented for review and requires explicit approval before anything is applied to your site.
  • Secure credential handling: CMS credentials are encrypted, stored per customer, and scoped to the session, so no one but you can access your site through the agent.

Availability:

V1 supports WordPress and Drupal only. Additional CMS platforms are planned for later releases.

4. Siteimprove CMS Plugin for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

An update to the Siteimprove CMS Plugin for AEM 6.5 and AEM as a Cloud Service is now available, with maintenance and bug fixes focused on highlighting reliability and configuration handling.

Fixes and improvements include:

Highlighting resilience: If an individual highlight fails, highlighting now continues processing the remaining items instead of stopping.

Configuration defaults: Missing can ContentCheck properties are now treated as false by default, with a clear fallback shown in the configuration dialog.

Compatibility notice

The CMS Plugin for AEM 6.5 and AEM as a Cloud Service is actively developed and maintained on Java SDK 11. Updates for AEM 6.4 and Java SDK 8 environments continue to be provided on demand.

Download and installation

5. Siteimprove CMS Plugin for Optimizely

We have released an update to the Siteimprove CMS Plugin for Optimizely CMS 12, focusing on editor workflow stability, connection reliability, and recheck handling.

Fixes and improvements include:

Block handling: Fixed an issue where opening standalone blocks caused page-type errors.

Token refresh: Plugin settings and credentials are now preserved when refreshing connection tokens.

Panel resilience: CMS editing continues uninterrupted if the Siteimprove panel fails to load.

Download and installation

Download and install the latest package directly from NuGet: Siteimprove.Optimizely.Plugin. (Opens in a new tab).

6. Siteimprove CMS Plugin for WordPress (v2.1.4)

Version 2.1.4 of the Siteimprove CMS Plugin for WordPress is now available, with fixes focused on prepublish stability, multi-domain support, and error handling.

Fixes and improvements

Prepublish on split/custom domains: Fixed a cross-origin issue that could cause prepublish to hang or show a blank overlay when the WordPress admin domain and the public-facing domain were different. Checks now reliably read the page from the WordPress origin while correctly attributing results to the public URL.

Overlay nonce verification: Fixed an issue where missing nonces on overlay-driven checks could cause plugin scripts to be mistakenly included in the page content being scanned.

Download and installation

Download and update the plugin directly from the WordPress Plugin Directory. (Opens in a new tab).
